Stirring football’ – how Slot’s Liverpool machine demurred into gear

Liverpool’s new era under manager Arne Slot began on a high note with a 2-0 victory over newly-promoted Ipswich Town at Portman Road. Although the team struggled in the first half, they managed to score two goals in the second half, securing a win in their first competitive match since Jurgen Klopp’s departure at the end of last season.

Slot, who hasn’t made any signings since taking over, became the first permanent Liverpool manager to win his debut league match since Graeme Souness did in 1991. Despite a slow start, Liverpool’s performance in the second half impressed former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch, who described their play as “breathtaking.”

Crouch, speaking on TNT Sports, emphasized the importance of making a strong impression under a new manager, especially without any new signings. He noted that the way Liverpool broke down Ipswich’s defense made it seem like they could score at will. While there are some differences between Slot and Klopp, Crouch believes the fans will quickly embrace the new manager’s style.
